ABOUT LOW-LIFE OPINIONS

What is this odd hotch potch of a website?
It's a bit of a mess at the moment isn't it. It was originally meant to be a blog about football and music.

Because that's just what the world needs isn't it? Another blog about football and/or music...
I'm going to assume that last statement was sarcastic as I appreciate that the web is awash with blogs about football and/or music. However I don't write for any of the other one's so this one is special.

Is there a reason why you don't write for any of the other ones?
Have you read any of the stuff I've written?

Yes. Ahhh right, now I see. They won't let you write for them will they?
No. But I'm not bitter, oh no....

So where did the name 'Low-Life Opinions' come from?
That's almost a real question, like in a proper 'About' page on a website. Well done

Well, you're the one who's actually typing this so you're actually congratulating yourself there.
Yes I am. Well done me again. Anyway, 'Low-Life Opinions' comes from a lyric in a Pavement song.

That'd be Gold Soundz wouldn't it?
Yes. Yes it would. Pop songs, art and life in general don't much better than 'Gold Soundz'. It has much to teach us. Also New Order had an album called 'Low Life' so it's a sly tip of the hat to them as well.

Well that's very indie and smug isn't it.
It is a tad I suppose. It's better than my first choice for a website name though.

Go on...
Well originally I was gonna set up a website based around the songs I listen to when I go running and the things I think about when I'm running. Then I realised that all I think when I'm running is 'I wish I wasn't running' and that wouldn't have been great to read about.

So, what were you gonna call it then?
'MP3 On The Run'.

What? Why?
Seriously, can you think of a better name? There aren't many good songs with 'Run' in the title. I'm not a Bruce Springsteen fan and the only other one I could think of was 'Run' by New Order and that was a bit too simple Actually I've just thought, there's also 'Run For Your Life' by The Beatles. That would've been good. Damn.

To late now, you've already paid for this domain. So what did 'MP3 On The Run' mean?
It's an 'homage' to 'ODB On The Run', a song I was briefly obsessed with when I heard it on a Rough Trade compliation a few years ago.

That's a truly awful website name. You had a narrow escape.
Damn right.

Do you often become obsessed with songs then?
All the time. At the moment it's "Careful" by Paramore.

Paramore? Really?
Yeah. It'll have changed by this time tomorrow though, don't worry. I have a very short attention span.

OK. So what's the aim of this website then?
It's a place for me to write about anything I want which is usually football and/or music. It's mainly about football at the moment but it'll get more music orientated soon when I get my music reviewing mojo back again.

I neither believe you nor care.
That's a bit harsh isn't it?

Perhaps. Anyway, why did you use Carlos Valderama on the logo?
He's the symbol of all that's pure and exciting about football.

How was he chosen for this prestigious role?
I emailed my brother and asked him who the funniest footballer ever was. He made the right choice.
